Qualified Mentor
A Qualified Mentor (QM) is a Healing Touch Certified Practitioner (HTCP) who has demonstrated on application and by acceptance, to be objectively qualified to successfully mentor students toward graduation and certification. A Qualified Mentor may supervise other mentors as well as his/her own mentees. Since 2011, a Qualified Mentor must serve as supervisor for any mentee who is working with a non-Qualified Mentor.
The mentorship process is a vitally important part of the Healing Touch Program. It assures that HT Practitioner Apprentices are informed and prepared for Level 5 course completion/graduation and that graduates are prepared to apply for certification as a Healing Touch practitioner. Satisfactory mentorship for a mentee is better assured through working with a mentor who has a history of successful mentoring, has current knowledge about HTP course and certification requirements, and has been acknowledged by peers and/or mentees as a capable mentor.
The Qualified Mentor Application process raises the standard of mentor quality to a more consistent level so that each student going forward into a mentorship can be better assured of a successful experience. This benefits the student population and acknowledges high caliber, successful mentors. Mentees can rely on QMs to be up-to-date on HTP course completion and curriculum requirements and can count on receiving accurate information and appropriate guidance. Mentees have the option of choosing to work with a traditional Mentor (non-QM) as well as with a supervising QM.
