Freedom to Travel

Before I tell you how Healing Touch changed my life, you should know a little about me. I’m 63 and an RN who seems to be great at beating up her body. Four years ago, I learned a tough lesson. I woke up with complete paralysis of the right side of my face - the dreaded Bell’s palsy had struck. Of course, I thought it was a stroke. After two months, my b2ap3_thumbnail_lost-1-1101336-m.jpgface still drooped, and much of what I said could not be understood. I had no tears. I had no feeling in my right cheek. When I talked to my neurologist, my physician and my ENT, I was told not to expect any more major improvement. What I had was it. The EMG showed no nerve conduction at all. The only advice they had to offer – reduce my stress!

The end result – we moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico. I stayed in nursing, but my whole lifestyle became less stressful and more satisfying. I managed to regain most of my speech, developed less droop and even got my tears back. (So much for doctors!) I still had a slight dizziness, and my right cheek was still numb. I was always biting it and couldn’t chew or swallow on that side.

Now we fast forward to last October (2010). As I set out for the Healing Touch Level 4 Baja Cruise, I had no idea what to expect. I was just excited to be attending Level 4 and going on a cruise!

It didn’t start out well. I forgot about my permanent dizziness. I was so used to allowing for it that I didn’t think about being on a ship. I spent the entire night being seasick. With the help of a patch, I got over my seasickness and the HT work continued.

It Only Takes A Nudge

Posted by on in Energy Magazine

One of my favorite authors is Dr. Valerie Hunt. Her books, Infinite Mind and Mind Mastery Meditations provide valuable information about consciousness and the human energy field. She states thatexperience shows that the healing of injuries or systemic problems are immeasurably hastened when the body’s energy field is coherent, flowing smoothly and not blocked.” I have heard Dr. Hunt say, “It only takes a nudge to bring the energy field into balance.” As a HT practitioner, I had the opportunity to observe how a little nudge and working for a very short time in

b2ap3_thumbnail_move-it-shorty-878133-m.jpgthe energy field helped hasten healing.

I noticed a friend of mine was walking with a very painful limp and not recovering well from surgery on the bottom of his foot to remove a planter wart. Being diabetic, he showed great con-cern for his condition. His use of medicinal cream prescribed by his doctor seemed to have little beneficial effect the past few weeks and he was in severe pain.

He had time constraints when I offered to do a Healing Touch treatment at the office where he was working. With his agreement to try HT, a fifteen minute Magnetic Passes was initiated. Hands in Motion – to clear the congested energy over the foot; Hands Still – to bring balance to the energy field over the foot area.

We discussed the goal of decreasing pain and promoting health, holding the intention for the highest good for healing. My friend told me that he had a belief in hands on healing, based on past family experiences.

When I saw him a week later at his office, he reported, “you are not going to believe this – I walked all day without pain on a family trip a few days after Healing Touch was done.” Today, he was walking without a limp, however, he was worried as he talked about the planter wart reseeding. He expressed concern because his physician told him that additional surgery might be required.

The 'Clown' Chakra

Posted by on in Energy Magazine

Originally published in Energy Magazine: The official Publication of the Healing Touch Program May Issue.  The ‘Clown’ Chakra by Sharona Ben-Sorek, RPT, HTP

The enthusiastic new Level 4 apprentice stopped me in the cafeteria before breakfast on the last day of class.  “Where is the ‘Clown’ chakra?,” she asked. “Some people said that you measure it here [she had her hand on her head], and others said that it was here [other hand near her clavicles] at the high heart. Where is it exactly?” “Well, it’s here at your upper arm – because that’s the humerus,” I replied. I didn’t understand at first that she was serious. She also didn’t get the joke.  The “clown” chakra had been mentioned in her class the previous evening. Once I understood that she truly was b2ap3_thumbnail_bobo-da-corte-1079638-m.jpghaving a hard time understanding, I tried to explain in more detail. In October 2007, I had the wonderful experience of having Mary Ann Geoffrey as my Level 3 instructor. During the class, she told a story about a student in a previous class of hers talking about the “clown” chakra. As Mary Ann was talking, an image came to me that I couldn’t ignore for much of the rest of that afternoon. In fact, it only left after I promised that I would do something about it.

The weekend after the class, I went to a craft store to purchase supplies, and shortly thereafter, Chakra Clown was born, complete with chakra indicators and coordinating attire. I mailed the doll to Mary Ann as a token of my thanks to her for all that she taught me in class. I thought that perhaps she would find it funny and set it aside. Never did I dream that it would go further than that, and was honored to read in her thank-you email that she said she wanted to take the doll to future classes.

The following year, as I prepared to go to my Level 4 class, there were several significant and stressful changes in my life. I realized that I needed some humor to help me deal with things, so I found a photo I had taken of the doll, and made a T-shirt with the picture on it. I brought the shirt to my Level 4 class and wore it.

Students in my class, as well as in the Level 5 class (which Mary Ann happened to be teaching at the same location) were curious about the background story, and several said that they would like shirts or dolls. I thought about the requests, but truly didn’t have the time to create the dolls for everyone, and said so.

A Personal Journey of Divine Remembering

Posted by on in Energy Magazine

Originally published in Energy Magazine: The official Publication of the Healing Touch Program May Issue.   A Personal Journey of Divine Remembering by Franny Harcey, HTCP, Healing Touch Instructor

As I reflect on my journey over the past ten years, I have to smile as I remember all the wonderful people who have touched my life and have helped me evolve. The instructor for my very first Healing Touch class was with one of Healing Touch Program’s Elders, Nancy Burns. I remember sitting there during the first 30 minutes of class, watching, listening and absorbing all the energy information and I thought to myself; “This is what I am supposed to be doing with my life. Energy work”, and to this day Nancy continues to bless me with her wisdom.

Healing Touch is the foundation of all the work and exploration I have done since that beginning class. Working with Janet Mentgen, as my mentor, only helped facilitate my deep personal growth and self discovery. Janet would say — (maybe not these exact words, but close) “Healing Touch is the structure with which we only begin our work. It is important to have a structure so that we may expand on it.”b2ap3_thumbnail_divine-remembering.jpg

Taking Janet’s words to heart, I delved into reading over one hundred books, studied under many teachers of different energy based and body centered therapies, and continue to embrace each new learning experience with the eyes of a beginner.

As of late, I have spent time with Rudy Noel, who graciously blessed Janet with the Mind Clearing and Hopi Technique that are taught in the Healing Touch Program. Rudy reminds me of this very thing as well — “We build from the basics and always have techniques and tools to pull from our tool belts.” Rudy strives and has taught me to strive to never settle for a technique, but to continue questioning and developing ourselves with a feverish desire to not only live from a place of pure love, but to truly “be” that love in every moment.

Creating a Healing Practice by Janet Mentgen

Creating a Healing Practice

There are many things to consider when creating a healing practice. The practice needs to fit with your personality, your lifestyle, your values. Rushing into a practice is often costly and unsuccessful. Spend the necessary time imaging how your practice is to look. Work your plan on paper many times before making any financial investment. Set your goals and plans with an orientation to the future. Think about the practice in terms of the first year and years to come.b2ap3_thumbnail_samaritan-1178513-m.jpg

Definition of practice

A descriptive definition of the practice is a first step. Some types of practice include:

• private practice

• practice within a work setting – hospital, clinic

• practice with family or friends

• volunteer practice – hospice, cancer, A.I.D.S.

• church or ministry practice – parish nurse

• educational practice – teaching

Develop a vision of your practice

Being able to image your practice is helpful. Let it develop like a dream or visualization. Examine all aspects of the image and see yourself practicing successfully in the space.

Essential Energy

Posted by on in Energy Magazine

Originally published in Energy Magazine: The official Publication of the Healing Touch Program March issue. Essential When There’s No “Me” To Be Found by Cyndi Dale

b2ap3_thumbnail_Essential_Energy_Cyndi.jpg

My chronological age, not to be announced, places me at the inception of the “Me” generation, which could have catapulted me into a life of ease. A workday assessing the cacao content of bon bons followed by a chauffer-driven excursion to the mall to buy yet another pair of vital black shoes. Unfortunately, I did not read the small print – “Me” came to mean if there is a hole, fill it, even if it is in someone else’s backyard; a job incomplete, a need, problem, or emotion to assuage; it is my job. Being a “Caretaker” is similar to being the “vacuumer,” the vacuum, and the electric charge, all at once. You end up exhausted and pick up “stuff” that was not yours in the first place.

A Healing, Caring Circle for Seniors

Posted by on in Energy Magazine

Originally published in Energy Magazine: The official Publication of the Healing Touch Program April 2009  issue.  A Healing, Caring Circle for Seniors
by Bernardine A. Clarke “Bernie,” MS, RN, HTCP/I, FAAN

It’s Tuesday afternoon about three-fifteen and we begin to gather in a large room with chairs forming a circle. By three-thirty there are 10 to 20 seniors from our retirement community present plus some Healing Touch people from the wider community and we begin by sharing our current joys and concerns—a new grandchild, a 60th wedding anniversary, an aching knee or shoulder, or an upcoming surgery. As we settle I lower the lights, start meditative music and we begin by balancing the energy field and centers, then extending our hand toward the center of the circle to send healing energy to those named in word or in thought. By this time it is about three-forty-five and we focus on bringing healing energy to our concerns of the day. b2ap3_thumbnail_A_Healing_Circle_For_Seniors_April_2009_EM.jpg

Our group is fluid and often we have a new member who comes with a friend or on their own to see what we are about. Emphasis
after meditation is focused on energy treatments related to what the individuals bring to the circle. Physical aches and pains usually respond to voice guided Basic Healing Touch Sequence using Magnetic Clearing, Ultrasound, and/or Pain Drain. Mind Clearing is often selected if the entire group seems upset by some recent happening such as 911 which occurred on a Tuesday
morning in 2001. That day we all arrived in great stress, concerned about what was to those happening those involved.

Ecology of Mind

Originally published in Energy Magazine: The official Publication of the Healing Touch Program February Issue  Ecology of Mind by Corinne Crockett, RN, Grad.Diploma Nursing, CHTP, RSI Interim Practitioner

“My Dad died of high blood pressure at 50, I know I am next.” How many times have you heard someone tell you that the health concerns of their elders would surely be visited
upon them? It may come as a relief and asurprise to know that the relatively new science
of epigenetics reveals that belief systems have more to do with our health than does our genetics.

Six Pillars of Enery Medicine

Posted by on in Energy Magazine

Originally published in Energy Magazine: The official Publication of the Healing Touch Program February Issue  Six Pillars of Energy Medicine by Donna Eden and David Feinstein, Ph.D.

In the ten years since the publication of our first book together, Energy Medicine, we have seen the world begin to re-embrace the ancient art of energy healing. More than three hundred practitioners have completed our two-year Certification Program in the past three years and tens of thousands of individuals have taken classes from us this past decade. What was seen as strange and woo-woo is becoming the respected cutting edge of health care — and for good reason.

Energy Medicine (EM) is accurate, efficient, and cost-effective. It is based on a different model than conventional medicine, which focuses on the biochemistry of cells, tissue, and organs.
